Jan 19 (Enhancement) Have a custom font uploaded into you SharePoint? Origami web parts will now follow fonts defined by your SharePoint font package

Many Origami web parts already let you apply a custom font to key, highly visible elements (like headings and carousels) where typography has the biggest visual impact.

Now, we’re taking this a step further.

Origami now supports your custom font across all key Origami web parts, so your typography stays consistent from top to bottom of the page.

You can upload your custom font package once (as shown in this video), and all Origami web parts will automatically inherit your font settings.
Each element of a web part (such as headings, body text, buttons etc) pulls from the corresponding font style you’ve defined, ensuring precise and predictable typography control.

Below is a visual guide showing which parts of each web part reference which font settings, so you always know exactly how your fonts are applied.

Feb 2 (Enhancement) Search Banner gets AI Search (BETA)

Search Banner now goes beyond keyword search. Users can ask natural language questions and receive intelligent, contextual answers generated from the documents the Search Banner is permitted to read.

How it works

  • Users type a question (e.g., “What is the leave request process?”).
  • Copilot analyzes indexed content from the allowed SharePoint libraries.
  • The banner returns clear, relevant answers—optionally alongside traditional search results.

You can Turn on AI summaries in the Search Banner web part properties.

Requirements & Notes

  • Users must have a Copilot license in Microsoft 365.
  • This feature uses Microsoft BETA APIs.
  • During installation, you’ll be prompted to grant the following permissions:
    • Microsoft Graph: Sites.Read.All, People.Read.All, Mail.Read, OnlineMeetingTranscript.Read.All, Chat.Read, ChannelMessage.Read.All, ExternalItem.Read.All, Files.Read.All
  • If you don’t plan to use AI summaries, you can skip these permissions and the Search Banner will continue working for file search as usual.

This update transforms Search Banner into a conversational knowledge assistant and helps users get answers without parsing documents.

Feb 2 (Enhancement) News Center can pull multiple news views for a single category

Now, one category can pull news from multiple views, even from different SharePoint sites, and present them together when a user clicks a single button. This makes it dramatically easier to curate news by topic, audience, or initiative, without duplicating content or restructuring lists.

:wrench: How it works

Setting this up is simple. When defining a category in the web part properties, just comma-separate the views you want included:

That’s it, the category will aggregate news from all selected views into one seamless experience.

:warning: Performance note

When you pull multiple views, the web part makes multiple API calls. With a 2 or 3 views this is barely noticeable, but loading time can increase if many views are combined, so we recommend using this thoughtfully for the best performance.
