SharePoint Announcement Web Part (List Driven)

Overview:
We are looking to enhance our SharePoint Online environment with a new or modified web part that allows departments to easily post informational announcements. These are not traditional “news” items but quick updates or notices that should be easily accessible and optionally delivered to employees.

Key Requirements:

  1. Web Part Type:
    -----We are open to this being a new web part or an enhancement to an existing one (e.g., News Center, Post Carousel, or Tabs with Cards).
    -----The goal is to display announcements in a carousel or tabbed layout, ideally grouped by department (e.g., IT, HR, Finance).

  2. Content Submission:
    -----Departments should be able to submit announcements via a simple form.
    -----The form should include:
    -------Subject/title
    -------Body (rich text editor)
    -------Optional image upload
    -------Optional file attachments
    -------Submitted announcements should be stored in a SharePoint list.

  3. Display Logic:
    -----The most recent announcements should be automatically displayed in the carousel or tabbed layout.
    -----Posts should be filterable/searchable and grouped by department.

  4. Subscription & Notifications (Ideal Feature):
    -----Employees should be able to subscribe to specific department lists.
    -----They should be able to choose their preferred delivery method (e.g., Outlook, Teams, daily digest).
    -----This would empower users to control how and when they receive updates.

  5. Legacy Reference:
    -----In our current SharePoint on-prem environment, we have a similar setup where:
    -------A form feeds into a list.
    -------The list populates a homepage carousel.
    -----We are happy to schedule a screenshare to demonstrate this functionality if helpful.

One option that might work well is our Social Corner web part — it’s often used for department announcements like this, though it doesn’t include personalized Alerts/Notifications.

You can also customize Social Corner to look very clean by turning off social icons and reactions, making it ideal for simple announcement use cases.

Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately, I don’t believe this will quite accomplish what we are looking for, although it certainly provides some basic functionality. Our goal would be to have a carousel on the homepage that rotates “announcements” from different departments. The announcements would be generated by a simple form, which saves into a list, and gets sent to the carousel on the homepage. Ideally, employees could choose which department announcemens they want to subscribe to.
