We have 7 individual sites grouped into one site collection. To help users to easily move between each site’s home page using the Origami navigation web part, we had to add home page links for each of these sites under the parent navigation title (as this isn’t clickable). See screenshot below:
This was working well, but when we enabled the breadcrumb function, we noticed a few issues:
- ‘Home’ currently takes you to the home page of the site you’re in (e.g. Native Title).
- Ideally, this would link to the parent home site (e.g. Jawun Home), because we have multiple sites.
- ‘Native Title’ also links to the current site’s home page.
- This works as expected.
- ‘Native Title Home’ again links to the same home page.
- It would be great if this could be manually hidden so it doesn’t appear twice in the breadcrumb trail.
- ‘Our Responsibilities’ links to the correct site page.
- This works as expected.
See the screenshot below to give you an idea of what is happening:
It would be helpful to have an option in the breadcrumb properties to edit the ‘Home’ URL. Something like this:
![]()
Ideally, there would be an option in the breadcrumb properties to hide a page link to avoid this duplication. For example:
Home (Jawun home page) > Native Title (Native Title home page) > Native Title Home Page (hidden in breadcrumb trail but not parent/top navigation menu) > Our Responsibilities (Our Responsibilities site page).
This is a great feature, especially in large sites like ours as it helps users to know where they are. We just need a way to make sure the breadcrumb trail is clear and doesn’t cause confusion or frustration for users.
