With Report 1: Site visits by department, you can:

  • See which departments are the most active on which SharePoint sites

With Report 2: Page visits and trend, you can

  • Discover how many unique users visited a specific page

With Report 3: Pages using Origami web part, you can

  • See a list of web parts and how many pages on a site use them
  • Drill down to pages using a specific web part
Initial setup

:one:Enable Report Reader permissions in Microsoft Graph

  1. Go to portal.azure.com and log in with administrative rights
  2. Click on the Active Directory
  3. On the left panel, select App Registrations
  4. Under All Applications category, find the app named “SharePoint Online Client Extensibility Web Application Principal” as shown below.
  5. Click on the link titled “SharePoint Online Client Extensibility Web Application Principal”
  6. Select API Permission → Add a permission
  7. Select Microsoft Graph → Delegated permissions
  8. Search for the following permissions: Reports.Read.All
  9. Finally, you will need to grant admin consent as follows:
    -9.1. Select Reports.Read.All from the list you’ve added and click the [Grant admin consent … ] link as shown below

-9.2. Click Yes and confirm that permission has been granted.

Give it a few minutes for this change to propagate in your tenant.

Additional setup for Report #1

:one:Enable Analytics App on the Site Collection

  1. Go to a site collection for which you want to track enhanced site usage data
  2. Click (*) → Add an app
  3. Click Add

The app will start feeding data for this report from the day you enable it.

:two:Unmask names in all reports
To track user uniqueness in analytics reports we need SharePoint to show unmasked user names in Reports.
Here is how to set this:

  1. Navigate to M365 Admin: https://admin.cloud.microsoft/
  2. Expand left nav to see the Settings option, select Org Settings
  3. In the list, find and click on Reports
  4. In the flyout that will open, uncheck the checkbox titled “Display concealed user, group, and site names in all reports”
  5. Click Save.

Add Origami Analytics web part to a site of your choice

  1. Add Origami Analytics web part to a page that will be viewable by content admins

  2. Select the type of report you’d like to see:

You can have 2 separate instances of this web part on the same page each showing different report.
