Initial setup

Setting up Origami Promo Alert - Watch Video

Step 1: Add the Promo Alert App

1. Go to your SharePoint site.
2. Click on Settings () > Add an app.
3. Find and add Origami Promo Alert.

• If you don’t see it, your SharePoint admin may need to install it first.

4. Wait a few seconds for the app to be added.

Step 2: Enable and Customize the Alert

1. Edit the page where you want the alert.
2. Click the gear icon on the web part, then select “Enable alert.”
3. Enter your message in the banner text box.
4. Customize it with:

• Font size
• Font and background color
• Emojis or a link

5. Click Save to publish the alert.

Show Alert from Another Site

To reuse the same alert across multiple SharePoint sites:

1. Edit the page and click the gear icon on the banner.
2. Choose “Show alert from another site.”
3. Paste the URL of the site that has the alert.
4. The banner will automatically display the message and styling from the other site.

Known issues

• Images in the banner text are not currently supported.

Troubleshooting

Uninstalling Promo Alert Banner

Step 1: Remove the Origami Promo Alert App

1. Click (*) → Site contents

2. Find the app called Origami Promo Alert → (…) → Remove
   

   

3. Click Return to classic SharePoint:
   

4. Again find the app called Origami Promo Alert → (…) → Remove
   

   

5. Click OK to confirm

Step 2: Remove the App from the Recycle Bin and Second-Stage Recycle Bin

1. While on the Site contents page click the Recycle bin link located in the top right hand corner
   

2. Find Origami Promo Alert from the list, select it and click Delete selection
   

3. Click (*) → Site settings

4. Click Recycle bin link and scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page until you see this text: “Can’t find what you’re looking for? Check the second-stage recycle bin”

5. Click the link second-stage recycle bin

6. Once more select Origami Promo Alert and click Delete selection. This permanently deletes Promo Alert from the site.

Step 3: Remove Stored Data

NOTE: With previous steps completed, the Promo Alert is removed and won’t show on the site, but if you were to add the app again, it would read the Promo Alert items and other settings you previously had. Those Promo Alert items and settings are stored in the list called PromoAlerts.
To completely remove all navigation data:

• While on Site contents page, find the list called PromoAlerts → (…) → Remove

This removes Origami Promo Alert and its settings (colors, logo, navigation items etc)
