We would need an ‘add new article’ option on this webpart
A ‘nice to have’ requirement would be for a page template to be used to generate the news articles – we would need to ensure the template was set as a ‘Repost Page’ content type as this is what I’ve built a view on (see next point)
We would also need to be able to set the webpart to populate via a document folder or view (like the finder fix) as news articles save to the site pages but not into a folder so there’s no way currently to auto populate the webpart.
The UX would need to be a simple button on the webpart prompting the user to "Add a new Article’. Screen shot mock up attached, button location optional.
Thank you for this suggestion and a mockup!
Would the “Add a news article” only show for users with “Edit” rights or “Site Visitors” also?
If site visitors could “Add a news article”, that would mean that site visitors would need to have permissions to create new pages on the site, meaning they would also be able to edit any page on the site (including editing a homepage, which is undesirable for some customers).
Would you please clarify this scenario?
Hi, thanks for looking into this for us.
The ideal scenario would be for both users and visitors to only be able to edit news articles they have posted - unsure if the editing access can be that granular?
We are working through our roles and permissions structure later today, will share once we are firmer.
Hi, after reviewing your question above, the team here have opted to take some time to finalise and test our permissions configuration over the Xmas break. Can we please put this enhancement work on hold until we have a final permissions structure in place, to ensure any additional requirements/questions are accurate going forward? Thanks
