Installing Origami Apps

Here is how you go about installing ORIGAMI solution for the first time in your Office 365 SharePoint tenant.

STEP 1: Enable and configure app catalog in SharePoint Online
  1. Log in to your Office 365 admin center page with an administrator account, then choose Admin.

  1. Navigate to the SharePoint admin center.

  1. In the left-hand side navigation click on the MoreFeatures option.

  2. From the list of available options click the Apps link

  3. Click on the App Catalog and choose OK to accept the default option and create a new app catalog site.

  4. On the Create App Catalog Site Collection page, specify the title of your App Catalog site (usually: Apps )

  5. Specify the web site address. (usually: apps )

  6. Set the Storage Quota 100.

  7. Set the Server Resource Quota to 0

  8. Click OK.

STEP 2: Upload ORIGAMI apps
  1. While in App Catalog site you created in the previous sequence above, click the Upload button in the document library (if you can not see the upload button - follow the steps in the section below)

  2. Upload the Origami solution files given to you: *.sppkg

  3. Wait for each file to be uploaded.

  4. When the upload is complete, you will see a confirmation window. Click Deploy button in the confirmation window.

I can not upload ORIGAMI App to SharePoint App Catalog
  1. Log in to your Office 365 admin center page with an administrator account, then choose Admin.

  1. Navigate to the SharePoint admin center.

  1. In the left-hand side navigation click on the Sites → Active Sites link.

  2. Search for the URL of your App Catalog.

  1. Click on the title of the app catalog site.

  2. In the flyout window, select the [Permissions] tab and add your username as an Admin in the list.

STEP 3: Setup site configuration
  1. Navigate to the site which will be your intranet home page.
  2. Create a new list Custom List and give it a name [Config].
    Here is how to create a SharePoint list → Create a list
  3. Add a new list column called [Value]. The type of the column should be a Single line of text
  4. The minimum values required in the list are:
    4.1 Title: PrimaryColour Value: [hex of your primary color; example: #385d7f]
    4.2 Title: SecondaryColour Value: [hex of your secondary color; example: #e18719]
STEP 4: Add ORIGAMI apps to sites
  1. Navigate to the intranet homepage site which you have just created.

  2. Click (*)Add an app

  3. Add both of the apps shown below:

NOTE: Some Origami apps store their information in the list. For example, the Quick Links app, FAQ app etc, need lists. Check the manual for each up to make sure you follow the setup instructions for them.
